History and Origins

Early breeders worked for decades to sharpen two coat patterns: spotted, often with two-toned rosettes, and marbled, a swirling pattern unique among domestic cats. Many lines also carry "glitter," a shimmer on the hair tips. Today TICA recognizes both patterns in brown, silver and snow colorations.

Personality

Bengal kittens learn fast and get bored fast. Many master fetch, clicker tricks and harness walks, and some even learn to run on a cat exercise wheel. They often follow you into the shower or splash in the sink, curious about running water.

Nutrition and Feeding

An active, muscular cat needs a complete, protein-rich diet in measured meals. Puzzle feeders double as enrichment for a busy brain. In the Texas heat, add wet food and keep water available in several rooms.

Grooming and Care

The short, pelt-like coat needs only a weekly pass with a rubber mitt. Keep nails trimmed to protect furniture from an enthusiastic climber. Brush teeth or use vet-approved dental chews.

Specific Needs

If you live in a high-rise, screen or close balconies; vets regularly treat cats injured in falls from height. Give your Bengal vertical space, an exercise wheel or a tall cat tree, and two vigorous play sessions every day. Ask breeders for PK deficiency and Bengal PRA DNA results.

Need to Know

• Screen or close balconies; falls from height are a real risk.

• A cat exercise wheel helps burn energy in apartments.

• Spotted and marbled are both standard Bengal patterns.

• Plan two vigorous play sessions every day.

• Ask for PK deficiency and Bengal PRA DNA results.

• Texas does not restrict domestic Bengals; check HOA or lease rules.

• Grooming is minimal; a weekly rubdown is enough.

FAQs

Are Bengal cats good apartment pets?
Yes, with enough vertical space and daily play. A bored Bengal will invent its own games, often with your belongings.

Do Bengals really use exercise wheels?
Many do, especially if introduced young with treats or a wand toy. It is a useful outlet for high energy.

What is the difference between spotted and marbled?
Spotted coats have distinct spots or rosettes; marbled coats have horizontal swirls. Personality is the same.

Is my balcony safe for a Bengal?
Only if fully screened. Agile, curious cats can misjudge jumps and fall.

How is my kitten delivered to Dallas?
Choose air cargo or a flight nanny to DFW, ground delivery within 500 miles, or self-pickup.

Our experience with Purebredkitties was wonderful! Communication was great, and we even got to FaceTime with our kitten before bringing her home. She was exactly as we expected and is already doing great with our family after just two days. One small note is that pedigree papers weren't included and cost extra, which was a bit pricey since she arrived spayed. Overall, even though it was expensive, it was worth it. The quality and size of our kitten are amazing!

The whole experience of adopting a pet with this fantastic team has been nothing short of wonderful. Now, I have the joy of being a devoted pet mom to a gorgeous kitten I named Princess. I'm already looking forward to adopting another fur baby with Maria's help in the future. I'm absolutely thrilled and can't thank you all enough!

Proud mom of four Sphynx kitties! I adopted all of my adorable feline friends from Maria at purebredkitties.com, and I couldn’t be happier. Each one is a treasure, and working with Maria has been an absolute delight!

The whole journey to bring our fluffy bundle of joy home was fantastic. Maria is incredibly kind and always ready to answer all our questions. I really appreciate how seriously they take the health of the cats. Our kitten arrived with a minor case of the sniffles, likely from the airport travel, but it was easily and quickly resolved. Plus, the video call we had to meet our little guy beforehand was a wonderful way to get a glimpse of his personality and feel confident in our decision. I'm definitely recommending Purebred Kitties to all my friends who are looking to get their own Maine Coon.

I recently welcomed my second Sphynx from Purebred Kitties, and just like my first experience, everything went perfectly. This time around was just as smooth and delightful. I adore both of my cats—they're healthy, have amazing personalities, and are absolutely precious.
