History and Origins

After the breed's discovery in Devon, England, in 1960, Britain's GCCF recognized it in 1967. To widen a small gene pool, breeders outcrossed to Burmese, British Shorthair and American Shorthair cats. CFA granted separate breed status in 1979 and full championship in 1983.
