History and Origins

The breed took shape in England in the 1950s, when breeders crossed Siamese with cats such as the Russian Blue to create the Siamese type in solid colors. In the United States they were first called Foreign Shorthairs. CFA accepted the Oriental Shorthair for championship in 1977, and today the breed offers hundreds of color and pattern combinations.

Personality

Orientals are extroverts that want to supervise everything you do, ideally from the top of the refrigerator. They talk constantly, play hard and form intense bonds with their people.
